Elizabeth Stratford

COMPOSING

Elizabeth is a keen composer and has won prizes for her work in the past.  Her compositions for 4 part choir on the texts extracted from T S Eliot’s Four Quartets were premiered in Salisbury Cathedral and Arundel Cathedral Choir have recorded a number of her works including The Peace of God for upper voices, Panis angelicus and O sacrum convivium, available on Priory and Regent Records labels.

She was commissioned to write a piece for the centenary of St Joseph’s Catholic College in Bradford, and effectively combined the texts of the Ave Maria and Prayer to St Joseph for upper voices in a setting which has been widely used and performed.  She has also composed responsorial psalmody settings and composition has been a prominent focus throughout her studies.

In addition to choral music which is her main focus, Elizabeth has also undertaken chamber ensemble compositions and one of these, Passionis, was performed in St Paul’s Hall on the University of Huddersfield campus.
