Elizabeth Stratford

TEACHING

Elizabeth pursues a busy teaching career concentrating on voice and piano. She is a visiting music teacher at Brighton College and also teaches privately in Arundel and Littlehampton.

Many of her students have achieved merits and distinctions in Associated Board and Trinity Guildhall examinations. Her particular interests in singing lie with correct teaching of vocal technique, breath control and good practice in young singers and correcting issues created by poor teaching or technique. She has taught at a number of schools and has also run workshops and trained singers on residential courses run by the RSCM for whom she also examines. Students are offered the opportunity to learn different styles of music and may choose to work towards examinations or festivals or to play or sing to develop repertoire. Organ lessons take place by arrangement.

Testimonial
"Elizabeth is a real inspiration to all the children and adults she works with. Both my daughters are taught by Elizabeth, and are progressing really well (I've even had a few lessons myself!). She has a rapport with all the people she works with, driven by real talent, a passion for music and an ability to find common ground. She not only teaches and coaches them but gets to know them as individuals, seeking out opportunities and encouraging them all the way. If Elizabeth were to be measured by the success of the young people she works with then I think she is definitely doing a great job."
